NEW CANAAN, CT, Mar. 8, 2022—Silvermine Arts Center is the recipient of a CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant in the amount of $116,500 from CT Humanities. The Operating Support Grant is designed to assist non-profit organizations focused on culture, the humanities, or the arts as they recover from the effects of the pandemic—and to strengthen the organizations as they adapt and move forward.
“We are overjoyed to have this level of support from CT Humanities,” said Barbara Linarducci, Silvermine’s CEO and Vice Chair. “Like other arts organizations, we are still striving to keep our many studio art programs and exhibiting galleries fully open and accessible to our community. The funds for general operating support could not be more welcome as we emerge from the pandemic and celebrate our centennial at the same time. We are extremely grateful.”
The CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grants are part of $30 million in support allocated over the next two years by the CT General Assembly and approved by Governor Ned Lamont. These grants are intended to assist organizations recovering from the pandemic and aid them in growing their ability to serve their communities and the public. They also aim to connect K-12 teachers and students to strong humanities and arts content and improve information technology and digital infrastructure. Grant funding ranged from $5,000 to $500,000 and all organizations offering cultural, humanities, and arts-based projects and activities for the public were eligible.
CT Humanities (CTH) is an independent, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. CTH connects people to the humanities through grants, partnerships, and collaborative programs.
