Artist Statement
Painting for me is an unrestricted intuitive universe with expanded boundaries that combine the "Life Spirit" (via brush and paint) of the subject and natural elements (air,water,earth,and fire)that develop and evolve into a lyrical cosmic naturalism.

As an artist ,I have always had an affinity with abstract painting, even if that attraction usually found expression through pushing the representational imagery to interface with abstraction rather than going beyond it.In recent years, there has been much experimentation with handmade papers and Sumi-e inks.The desired effect is achieved not by a reductive gestural approach, but by staining with imported inks,layer upon layer of paper producing a perceived translucency.

Gold for me signifies infinite permanence.The use of text ( Hebrew Poetry,etc.) into the actual surface of my painting,as colophons of Eastern art though equally inspired by William Blake and the Western tradition of illuminated manuscripts.The tiling pattern is both intuitive and symbolic.The gestural stroke remains the source of the unknowable in future works of art.
