Beginning each Visual Arts and Poetry workshop, Teaching Artist Lori Bloom recites an empowering mantra in unison with her class, signaling that they are all in for a real treat! Working together over six days, 3rd graders at Hallen School in Bridgeport create mixed media self portraits and formally share thoughtful poetry with their classmates.
Completed art is hung in the hallway giving the entire school the opportunity to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of their 3rd grade peers.
Art Partners programs set goals and objectives for students to visually explore topics being taught in their classrooms. Children are encouraged to learn skills that can be translated to their classroom curricula using their own experiences and imagination.
