A Silvermine & Norwalk Housing Authority collaboration
Outreach
May 10, 2024

Recently published “Reflections on the Pond” salutes the stunning watercolors and prose created by students from the Norwalk Housing Learning Centers in our annual after-school program. Author and illustrator Lizzy Rockwell led eight, weekly visits to our campus where students sketched from life and recorded their observations of Guthrie pond, its cascading waterfall and the bridge that connects our campus.

The book was officially presented to the SONO Public Library at a formal dedication ceremony last Friday and will be placed in their permanent collection for all to view. Participating students had the opportunity to read their written reflections out loud in front of special attendees that included family members and others from the community. It was a real celebration!!

Art Partners Outreach Education programs are made possible by generous support from Hearst Foundation, Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority, National Endowment for the Arts, Cornelia T Bailey Foundation, Bedford Family Social Responsibility Fund, Maurice Goodman Foundation, United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut, The George & Grace Long Foundation, and others.
