Silvermine is pleased to present an incredible array of Jak Kovatch etchings, drawings, paintings and mixed media for sale that has been donated by the Estate of Jak Kovatch. This artwork is specially priced, many are framed and ready to hang. There are many more on display in the School Student Gallery. All sales are final.
Visit this exhibition in person in the Student Gallery located in the main school building open Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
All proceeds benefit our scholarship fund which provides financial assistance to students in grades K-12 who wish to participate in visual arts classes and workshops, giving young artists an opportunity to find and further their creative talents.

For over 20 years, Jak Kovatch was an art instructor at the Silvermine School of Art teaching drawing and anatomy. He was an accomplished artist and educator who devoted his life to his loves of art, anatomy, and teaching.
Jak studied art at UCLA, Chouinard Art Institute, California School of Art (Los Angeles), Los Angeles City College, University of Southern California and the Art Students League (New York).
He began his art career as a student assistant at Lynton Kistler Studio, Los Angeles from 1952-1953 where he developed a passion for lithography, which he pursued his entire life. In 1953, he painted Mickey Mouse in Fantasia in the staff animation department at Walt Disney in Burbank, Ca.
Jak was a Fellow of the Mellon Foundation, as a visiting faculty at Yale University from 1979-80 with Gabor Peterdi as his acting host in drawing and printmaking. He continued into the summer of 1981. Then in 1982-83, he once again returned to Yale University as a Mellon Special Fellow.
