The Silvermine Galleries are recognized as one of New England's most respected showcases for established and emerging artists. A complex of five galleries and a sculpture garden, the Silvermine Galleries boast an ambitious exhibition schedule, presenting over 20 shows each year. Frequently changing exhibitions include one-person shows by Guild Artists and curated group shows. The highly regarded Art of the Northeast, begun in 1949, is held each spring. The exhibition attracts thousands of entries from artists residing in the nine northeastern states. Each year, a national juried exhibition is presented, rotating between printmaking, photography and craft. Director's Choice exhibitions include special exhibitions by prominent artists such as Christo and Jeanne Claude, Louis Kahn, Margaret Bourke White and Edward Hopper and curated group exhibitions such as WaxWorks, featuring works by Robert Ryman and Jasper Johns.
Free artists' talks are held on Fridays at 12:30 and once a month on a Wednesday evening at 6:30, presenting opportunities to meet the artists and develop a deeper understanding of contemporary art. See Weekly Walk and Talks.
